ALL ABOUT ME
I’m Sheila and I’ve been practising as a fully qualified Reflexologist for 23 years. I live in the lovely seaside town of Ilfracombe, North Devon.
My treatments are available from my comfortable, relaxing, private treatment room from my home or I offer home visits for clients who prefer to be in their own environment.
I also offer treatments at various North Devon retreats, self catering apartments /cottages, hotels, bed and breakfasts and even campsites.
To cater for people who would like to attend a treatment room, but closer to the local town of Barnstaple, I can arrange sessions at Aleafia Wellness Centre or The Tarka Clinic.
(Travelling from my home obviously incurs a little extra cost)
My training began when I gained an IIHHT diploma in Holistic Therapies in 1998.
It was an amazing, intense, year long, full time course Including Aromatherapy, Aromatherapy Massage, Reflexology, Swedish Massage, Indian Head Massage, Anatomy and Physiology, Counselling, Diet and Nutrition and First Aid.
I enjoyed every part of the course, but it has always been Reflexology that has really interested me.
It is a vital to (out of interest and because it is required from The Federation of Holistic Therapies) keep up with current trends, new findings etc. So over the years I have attended many seminars and courses.
I specialise in building strong and trusting relationships with my clients. Giving any of these treatments is so personal, mutual understanding and being comfortable is so important.
The theory behind reflexology is that our body’s structure and organs are mapped in smaller areas of our bodies, for example our feet, hands, and ears.
I practice in foot reflexology.
Reflexology is a unique system of foot massage using techniques such as thumb walking and hooking. the precise reflex points on the feet correspond to the different parts of the body, this treats the whole of a person physically, mentally and emotionally.
The body’s natural healing may be stimulated to help rebalance the endocrine, digestive, reproductive, respiratory, circulatory, muscular and urinary and the skeletal systems, the brain and facial areas, therefore aiding the body to feel and work as well as it possibly can.
Reflexology works on a very individual basis, and I aim to work with you, and your body to achieve this. On your first treatment we will go through a consultation where we can speak about your needs and requirements.
A course of 6 treatments is recommended at first. After this one treatment every 4-6 weeks so we can really work on restoring balance within your body.
Who can benefit from Reflexology?
Everyone can benefit from a Reflexology session, it is a great treatment for people of all ages.
I have recently qualified in Baby Reflexology. Just a 10-15 min session can help young babies with sleep, colic, reflux or teething. I can advice on techniques for parents, carers etc to use.
Treatments are adapted for not only babies, but children, teenagers, pregnancy and elderly people.
Every treatment is different to suit everyone individually.
Reflexology can help relieve many common ailments, for example, PMS, fertility problems, pregnancy, menopause balancing hormones, digestive problems, headaches, anxiety, tension and stress.

This policy outlines some of the key measures I have taken to reduce the risk of spreading coronavirus (COVID-19). Please note the content may be subject to change.
Adhering to guidelines
Throughout the pandemic, I will be following guidelines issued by the government, NHS, other relevant authorities and my professional association, the Federation of Holistic Therapists, regarding safe and hygienic practice and the use of any personal protective equipment (PPE).
COVID-19 Risk Assessment
I have carried out a full risk assessment, in line with guidance from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), in order to:
identify what work activity or situations might cause transmission of the virus; think about who could be at risk; decide how likely it is that someone could be exposed; and to act to remove the activity or situation, or if this isn’t possible, control the risk. Health screening
Prior to seeing any of my clients, I will be:
monitoring my own health and deferring treatments if I have COVID-19 or symptoms of COVID-19. contacting my clients 24 hours in advance and deferring any treatments if: they have COVID-19 or symptoms of COVID-19; are clinically extremely vulnerable and shielding; anyone in their household has COVID-19 or symptoms of COVID-19; they have been in close contact with someone who has symptoms of COVID-19 in the past 14 days; they have been contacted by the NHS Test and Trace Service and told to self isolate. asking my clients to call and cancel and defer treatment on the morning of their appointment if they have a temperature or other symptoms of COVID-19. Enhanced cleaning and hygiene measures
I have introduced enhanced cleaning and hygiene measures between clients, which includes washing and disinfecting any non-porous surfaces and therapy equipment, such as chairs and couches, and replacing any porous or single-use items, such as towels and couch roll. Strict personal hygiene measures will also be adhered to, including regular handwashing/ sanitising.
Adapting or restricting treatments
It may be necessary for me to adapt or restrict certain treatments, in order to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 and/or protect my clients’ health and safety. Any clients likely to be impacted will be advised as soon as possible.
Maintaining social distancing
Please note that while many treatments involve close contact, I will be observing social distancing measures wherever possible. This might include, for example, maintaining an appropriate distance during the consultation process, and when arriving and leaving for an appointment.
If a treatment is cancelled or deferred at short notice because my client has COVID-19 or has symptoms of COVID-19, any standard cancellation fees will be waivered. The client will be asked to kindly confirm in writing that their appointment has been cancelled or deferred because they have COVID-19 or symptoms of COVID-19.

I am happy to be contacted to discuss any aspect of your treatment during this time.
